On Sunday, September 22, 2013, 4:44PM, EST, the Sun entered Libra, the Sign of Marriage (specifically, the marriage contract), Partnership (romantic and otherwise) and Harmony.
The Sun entering the Sign of Libra is also the date of the First Day of Autumn, the Season of the Witch. Also, in some Magickal Traditions, the Autumnal Equinox is also known as Mabon. This was a term coined by Aidan A. Kelly, who is an American member of Academia and was (or, perhaps still is), influential in the religion commonly known as Wicca (thank you, Wikipedia), around 1970 (a very good year).
The figure for Whom Mabon (I usually pronounce it MAY-bon) is named is from the Welsh Cosmology and the Arthurian Legends named Mabon ap Modron. As my Welsh is a bit rusty, and I have been unable to obtain the pronunciation of this Name, may the Gods help you find someone who can correctly pronounce this name.
Nonetheless, I believe it comes from the Welsh words for “Divine Son.”
According to Raven Kaldera’s MythAstrology (Copyright 2004, Llewellyn Worldwide, Woodbury, Minnesota), the Deity that claimed the Sun in Libra Placement Is Dike (pronounced DIE-kee), the Greek Goddess of Moral Order and Fair Judgement (thank you, again, Wikipedia!).
Now, if your Sun-Sign is Libra, then the Divine Great Mystery is giving you a boost of Magickal Energy to make dreams and desires manifest.
However, if your Sun-Sign is Aries, the Polar Opposite of Libra, you are in your Solar Cycle Low. So, make sure to get plenty of rest and relaxation as possible during this Solar Transit.
And, if you have at least one Planet in Libra, then that Planet’s Energies shall be highlighted during this time. For example, my Uranus-Sign is Libra. So, right now, I can expect the unexpected regarding partnerships of all kinds, and it has already happened, especially in groups.
Libra is ruled by Venus, the Planet named after the Roman Goddess of Love, Beauty and Sensual Pleasures. For years, I have found that Libra represents Venus’s Aesthetic Energy, whereas Taurus represents Venus’s Sensual and Earthy Energies.
Astrologically speaking, this is a time of Balance. If your life is out of balance, this is the most ideal Transiting Sun-Sign to recreate Balance. If there are people or situations that are out of Harmony with who you are and what you are creating, then this is the time to create Harmony; with yourself, with your life, with your world.
The Sun shall remain in Libra for a little more than a month. The Sun enters Scorpio, in exactly five weeks on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, 2:10AM.
For now, I invite you to call upon Dike to restore Divine Order in all areas of your life, Venus, to beautify your life and world and Mabon to help you remember your Truth.
And for those of you who want to read a fantastic book on Western Astrology, I highly recommend The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need, by Joanna Martine Woolfolk. It was originally published more than twenty years ago, and is currently in its 21st Century Edition. The book truly lives up to its title.
